Biographical Note:

Derek Jones trained at the Department of Fine Art, Newcastle University, and then spent a short spell in museums before training as an art teacher. He taught for about 14 years before leaving the profession to concentrate full time on his art and running a small gallery in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Skilled in screen-printing and etching, Derek also works in charcoal, pencil and oils and has always been interested in figure work. Indeed, for last five years he has more or less specialised in it. Derek Jones has recently shown in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Helmsley, Newbury, Salisbury, Worcester and Newcastle, and occasionally exhibits in venues local to him, such as Paxton House and the Maltings Art Centre.
