Biographical Note:
Gonçalves both trained and followed on to teach at some of the most renowned artistic Brazilian institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) and the Brazilian Society of Fine Arts (SBBA), both in Rio de Janeiro. 2003 marks the 30th anniversary of Gonçalves' career, during which he has participated in dozens of solo and group exhibitions. Of particular interest is his contribution to an exhibition celebrating the Discovery of America that was held in the Netherlands in 1984. The development of his abstract style is the outcome of his experiences along the years. It conveys the maturity of the artist, resulting in works of great impact conquering admirers in Brazil and overseas.
