Biographical Note:
Victor Pasmore (1908-98) founded - with Coldstream - the Euston Road School in 1937. From 1954 to 1962 he taught at Durham University, whilst from 1945 (with paintings such as "The Studio of Ingres") he established a considerable reputation. Collaboration with Nicholson from the early 1950s led him to break with representational art and he become a major force in post-war British abstract painting.
