Biographical Note
Born in France in 1963.
Olivier attended the Paris Beaux Arts Academy in the drawing section and strangely enough, was attracted to abstraction when he started painting after leaving school. This was a short-lived period after which Olivier took to illustration. Now he says of his own work, that he wants light and shade to be read between the lines of contorted bodies, either lying or standing. "I also have this thing about recumbent figures that look as though they will proudly rise to their feet against a background almost bare of all ornament: A blank page to fill in."
Olivier has shown with us here at Blackheath successfully for a number of years.
