Manifesto ...
... is an old word, a fine word, and one well due for a revival. Unlike its fashionable replacement, it is not articulated simply by the bottom line but resonates to more complex structures. And certainly, that has always applied to the dynamic behind Blackheath Gallery. When in 1975, as a sculptor and teacher of fine art, I opened the Gallery it was to provide a showcase for the work of the many accomplished local artists who work in this sophisticated area of London. Since then, the Gallery has developed dramatically and now provides a showcase for a mix of extremely talented artists from the UK and mainland Europe - and even further afield. Young and inexperienced artists are welcome to apply for exhibition space and, indeed, some have already secured a strong position in our 'Gallery Artists' section with impressive success. They share the section with artists who have already established themselves in the contemporary gallery circuit, and in particular at Blackheath Gallery, and both combine to offer a formidable collection of work. . The type of work shown does not have the constraint of any particular subject matter or medium. The only element that links the paintings, sculpture, prints and fine glass, is that of artistic excellence. Blackheath Gallery - opening times 10am to 6pm daily, closed Thursday & Sunday - is only twenty minutes from the centre of London and situated in an area of rich historical interest. And being less than 750 metres east of the prime meridian and less than 1500 metres southeast of the authentic Greenwich Observatory, we are conscious - particularly in this millennial period - of being uniquely well located. And by we, I mean my partner Kim and myself. We always have been, and remain, a family business dedicated to customer service and client satisfaction. Maps ... ... site maps, that is, articulate. So take a look at ours. Links ... ... nourish and sustain. Soon we'll have a feast.
