Biographical Note:

Nigel Martin graduated with a B.A. (Hons.) in Fine Art from the Cardiff Institute of Higher Education in 1994. He has had a long term interest in the sculptural forms of masks and armour as they connect to the mutable concept of 'identity.' Used as protective devices, and as a means of attack, masks and armour have had a complex relationship with the human psyche in most cultures, and Martin's work explores this relationship, allowing productive experimentation with surfaces, colours and patinas.
