Biographical Note:
Jim Cole's work explores a combination of free flow paint pouring and strong graphic shapes, cut from perspex, which are layered either within holes in the painting or raised from the surface.
The layers of contrasting paint textures, colours and finishes give a three dimensional aspect which is, at times, almost sculptural. When displayed the images often take on some of the qualities
of the surrounding environment, with the wall colour showing through holes and the painted perspex or light throwing shadows within the layers themselves.
