Biographical Note:
Born 1953, London, England
Attended Reigate School of Art for 2 yrs
Then left to play Rhythm and Blues till late 30`s.
Matisse, Paul Klee, Picasso, Braque, Chagall, Duffy, and Cezanne were all early influences. But it was the work of the English painter Patrick Heron that really got to him. As a young boy of 14 years, he found Heron’s paintings simple and direct and something to which he could relate. It was then a natural progression to other English artists such as Terry Frost, Ivon Hitchens, Ben Nicholson and others.
He left Secondary Modern School at 17 and went to Reigate Art school where he leant how to roll a cigarette, drink cider and listen to the words of Bob Dylan`s, Freewheelin’.
He left after 2 years to play the guitar which was his passion until his late 30`s
He moved to Brighton in 1985, when he found a room near his Grandfather George Hann`s studio. George was an established painter and they developed a mutual friendship that orbited around painting, discussions about Jack Kerouac, George's life as a painter, and the works that they were currently engaged in. He knew then that he was going to be a painter .
Today he lives with his wife and two children in Brighton were he has a home studio.
He regularly shows at:
